New York Mets Johan Santana managed to really boost his team after a great game of 14 innings. Santana (9-7) allowed six hits and a home run getting his second victory since June 1st, during this period he was given four routs, which ended without a decision in four occasions.

"We needed something of that magnitude", stated Jerry Manuel when the Venezuelan launched the seventh complete game of his career.

Also Fernando Tatis and Ramón Castro shot great home runs for two extra runs that helped New York beat the St. Louis Cardinals last Sunday for a final score of 9-1.

Despite his incredible input last Tuesday, Santana withdrew from the game after eight innings in the rout against Philadelphia as soon as the rivals began to weaken their game.

It was until June 19th 2007 that Santana completed his first game right at the time when he was part of the Minnesota Twins and they defeated the Mets. The Venezuelan helped grasp that victory upon a clean and unexpected performance.

"When I came, I knew that I had to do something to give them a hand", said Santana. "I could do my job and give some help to my teammates".

The central gardener Carlos Beltrán who stole a home run overcoming Ryan Ludwick in the seventh inning, one of the most incredible hits that crossed the field straight to the fence also helped Santana.

Santana did not allow hits until Troy Glaus opened the fifth inning with a single. Santana managed to set flat 10 men in row, as soon as Brendan Ryan gave him the base right at the beginning the game.

On the other hand, David Wright tied three hits for the Mets winning two of three in their series against Philadelphia and St. Louis these two teams are currently battling for a better spot in the standings. New York travels now to Florida and Houston with a high spirit after winning 15 of their last 19 games.

Reviewing other MLB games in the American League the David Ortiz-Manny Ramírez pair worked well again and took the attention away from the fact that Ramirez would like to leave the Boston Red Sox after helping his team set a record of eight consecutive wins after defeating the New York Yankees 9 to 2.

The Dominican Ramírez hit two hits and achieved two races just barely a few hours after affirming that he was "tired" of the Red Sox and that he would accept a transfer that will leave satisfied both teams. Additionally, Ortiz managed a home run and prompted three runs in his third game since being out for more than 45 games due to an injury in his left wrist.

New York Yankees opener Sidney Ponson did not play very well and allowed the Red Sox batters to hit well passes and advanced forward. And lastly, Jon Lester remained unbeaten upon winning for the sixth time in nine openings despite some trouble he had at the beginning.
